BOWIE'S STORY
The beginning of Bowie’s story is unknown, but it is likely he was dumped in the city of Bakersfield, which is common, unfortunately. We found him on May 3, 2024 inside the Valley Plaza Mall, with an open wound on his right ankle. It’s suspected he was run over in the mall parking lot and was found inside seeking shelter.
We transported him to the animal hospital as soon as we could where he received wound care/treatment including splint and bandaging. His test results showed Bowie had a severe fracture on his right ankle as well as signs of infection. Per vet’s recommendation an amputation would be the best option to prevent infection from spreading.
Bowie has shown resilience, his recovery has truly been a miracle. Although Bowie's life would look a little different in such a short amount of time he has adapted so quickly. We have enjoyed getting to know him and this is what we have learned so far. He loves a good car ride with his foster brother Summit, a four year old golden retriever. Loves staying cool in the backyard with Ollie, his seven year old chihuahua brother and sharing fruit like mango and papaya with his seven month old youngest brother, an Australian cattle. Bowie appreciates walks, runs, homemade food and kibble. His chill and calm energy is so refreshing. His presence truly warms our hearts.
Please consider adopting Bowie, and if you can’t please share his story to friends and family looking for a loving pet.
