MORE ON ATHENA.
Meet Athena, a courageous spirit who shares a story of resilience much like her brother, Atlas. Athena was discovered wandering alone in a field in San Bernardino County, a solitary figure in search of safety. Animal control brought her to the Devore Animal Shelter, where she waited with quiet hope that her family might find her. Sadly, no one came, and it’s believed she may have been abandoned her.
During her time at the shelter, Athena faced significant challenges. She lost weight and developed kennel cough, a common but serious condition that puts dogs at heightened risk in overcrowded facilities. Just as her situation grew dire, Canine Rescue Club stepped in, giving Athena the second chance she so desperately deserved. With the support of our dedicated veterinary partners at Green Dog, Athena received the medical care she needed to start her journey toward a brighter future.
Athena is currently being trained by Canine School of Behavior, not for any concerns but to make sure she is set up for success. Athena is flagged as great around dogs, kids and people - Behavior notes that she is not fond of dogs correcting her and is the only focus for her training.
Her current foster, Sean has done an incredible job decompressing here, teaching her about the crate and walking. TAZ K9 Academy has guided us through her decompression phase.
